Tunisian Pumpkin Cup Cozy

Tunisian Pumpkin Cup Cozy

4th September 2019 0 By cosycrochet

I said I would be back with some more cup cozy designs, and it really didn’t take that long for me to start designing them again. I really do love how quickly they work up, so even though I had both kids home for the summer and was busier than usual I still managed to sneak in a nice Autumn/Fall design.

Aside from the leaves changing colour, one of my favourite things about this time of year is pumpkin picking. For the last few years we have all been going down to the local pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins and have fun in the corn maze too. I wanted this cup cozy to capture all the fun of that day.

I chose a light orange for the foreground of this design, with brown for the return pass and whilst I initially wasn’t sure about whether it would work or not, I am certain now it was the right choice. It really echoes the pumpkin patch, with the mud and rows of pumpkins and corn everywhere. The rows of alternating Knit and purl stitches really add to that effect.

No pumpkin patch would be complete without pumpkins and here I represented two of the most prominent ones. The typical orange pumpkin we all know and love and that is often carved at this time of year. And the white ghost pumpkin which I love to pick and tastes great in soup too. Both of them needed stalks and the green colour really finished off this design and made the pumpkins really stand out.

This is my first design where even the little motifs have been made using Tunisian crochet and I think this really captures how far my Tunisian crochet skills have developed this year. I would never have thought I would be able to do something like this at the beginning of the year.

This cozy, like all the other’s I have designed still measures 7cm by 12cm and is a great stash buster as it uses less than 30g of yarn, so as well as being quick to make, will be the perfect addition for your coffee cup this season, especially if you love a pumpkin spiced coffee. The pattern for the Tunisian Pumpkin Cup Cozy can be found below.

See you next week,
