Tunisian Elephant Cup Cozy

Tunisian Elephant Cup Cozy

This is the final week of the Cup Cozy series (at least for now, I definitely have plans to expand these at some point) and I have saved my absolute favourite design until last, the Elephant.

The Elephant Cozy, like the other animal cozies, is worked in the round, although this time I decided to use a combination of the knit stitch and the purl stitch, which has created a lovely RIB effect. I chose to make the background or return pass in a grey and the forward pass or foreground in grey and I wanted that colour choice to echo the savannah or jungle that the Elephant naturally lives in. This particular RIB stitch doesn’t curl like a lot of other stitches so the whole cozy can be worked up in the one stitch and I love it.

The dimensions of the Elephant cozy are the same as the others, 7cm high and 12cm across (or 24cm in the round) and as such is a great stash busting project as it doesn’t use up too much yarn. Once I finished the Cozy I added a cute Elephant motif in grey and I especially love how I managed to only attach his ear at one point giving it a lovely 3D realistic effect.

You can get the pattern for the Elephant Cup Cozy below. Join me next week for something summery to wear for what is left of the summer, or if you are lucky enough to be going on a hot holiday this will be the perfect top for you.
