  1. Materials and Resources

Below is a list of everything you will need to make this hat

  • Knitcraft in the Zone – 100g balls in any colours you choose – I used the following colours;
    • White (4 balls)
    • Turquoise (2 balls)
    • Orange (small amount)
    • Denim
  • 4mm & 8mm hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker

  • Sc – single crochet
  • Ch – chain
  • Sc inc – sc increase
  • Sc dec – sc decrease
  • m/c – magic circle
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • WS- waistcoat stitch
  • S-sc – surface sc
  • Fsc – foundation single crochet

Here are a few handy tips to help you with the pattern.

  • The gauge for this bag is 10 sc and 14 rows in a 10cm square.
  • The bag is made holding 2 strands of yarn together for all colours
  • The cup cozy is 7cm by 24cm unstretched.
  • The snowman is worked in 1 strand a 4mm hook


  1. Pattern

Cozy – work in turquoise (2 strands 8mm)

Row Instruction Stitches
1 Ch 25, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch to end 24
2-7 WS around 24
  Sl st and cast off, sew in ends  


Snowman – work in white (1 strand 4mm)

Row Instruction Stitches
1 6 sc in m/c 6
2 (sc inc) x 6 12
  Cast off and sew to cozy  
1 6 sc in m/c 6
2 (sc inc) x 6 12
3 (sc, sc inc) x 6 18
  Cast off and sew to cosy  
  Sew eyes in denim and nose in orange  
1 Ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and to end, turn 4
2 Sc dec, sc dec, turn 2
3 Sc dec, 1
  Cast off and sew to snowman  
1 fsc 4, turn 4
2 2 sl st, ch 3, sk ch, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in remaining st on row 1  
  Cast of and sew to snowman.  
  Add tassels to end of scarf
