The trees are 3” tall and 2” wide at the base.   They have two coloured leaves and two different coloured trunks

Below is a list of everything you will need to make all of the dinosaurs, their playmat and accessories.   The bonus patterns will have their own resource lists.

  • Double Knit Yarn – 100g balls in the following colours
  • Light Brown
  • Dark Brown

    5 mm hook

  • Sl st – slip stitch
  • Sc – single crochet
  • Hdc – Half double Crochet
  • Hdc inc – half double crochet increase
  • Hdc dec – half double crochet decrease
  • Dc – double crochet
  • Trc – treble crochet
  • Dtrc – double treble crochet
  • Ch – chain
  • Fphdc – front post half double crochet
  • Bphdc – back post half double crochet
  • Fphdc inc – front post half double crochet increase
  • Bphdc inc – back post half double crochet increase
  • Fphdc dec – front post half double crochet decrease

Here are a few handy tips to help you with the pattern.

Gauge

The trees have no specific gauge, however they need to be as tight as possible to prevent the stuffing from coming out.

Other Notes

  • All these patterns are worked in continuous rounds, do not sl st at the end of each round. A stitch marker is essential for keeping track of the start of your rows.

Small Leaf – make 24 in light green

Row Instruction Stitches
1 Ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 7 trc in last ch 13
2 Working up the opposite side of the chain –  2 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc and 3 sc in the top ch loop (the one that was skipped in the beginning), sl st in starting sc and cast off, leave a long tail for sewing.   Sew in inside end. 9

Large Leaf – make 24 in dark green

1 Ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, then sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2 trc, 9 dtrc in last chain 17
2 Working up the opposite side of the chain – 2 trc, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc, then 3 sc in top chain (the ch you skipped in the beginning), sl st in starting sc and cast of leaving a long tail for sewing.   Sew in inside end.

Trunks – working in 2 strands make 2 in light brown and dark brown

Sl st and cast off and sew hole shut.  Sew in ends
Sew 6 large leaves evenly spaced around the top
Sew 6 small leaves overlapping the large leaves so they are poking through the gaps in the large leaves.
