Toddler Gloves – Age 3-5 

  1. Materials and Resources

Below is a list of everything you will need to make these gloves

  • Double Knit Yarn Yarn – 100g balls in the colour of your choice holding 2 strands together
  • 4 mm hook
  • Tapestry needle

Below is a list of all the stitches (and their abbreviations) featured in this series of patterns.  All terms used are American.

  • Sl st – slip stitch
  • Sc – single crochet
  • Ch – chain
  • Hdc – half double crochet
  • Fphdc – front post half double crochet
  • Bphdc, – back post half double crochet
  • Sc dec – single crochet decrease
  1. Pattern

 Glove

Row Instruction Stitches
Ch 30 sl st in into 1st ch to form ring
1 Ch1 HDC in each st
2 *FPHDC, BPHDC* rep * to end
3-6 Rep row 2
7-9 HDC in each st
10 HDC 10 st, ch4, sk 5, join with HDC in 6th st from chain, (this should create hole for attaching thumb later) HDC to end of row
11-14. HDC in each st
Cast off

First Finger

Row Instruction Stitches
1 Fold glove in half and attach yarn at half way point above thumb hole.   SC in same st , 3 more SC, ch 1, join with SC to SC directly opposite and do 3 more SC which should bring you back to where you did the first SC for the finger.  You will now have a total of 8 SC and a ch1
2 SC 4, 1 SC in ch1 gap, 4 SC
3-7 SC in each st
8 SC Dec x2, SC, SC Dec x2
Cut yarn and thread through the loops pulling tight to close finger.  Sew in ends

Second Finger

Row Instruction Stitches
1 Attach yarn to left of ch1 from previous finger.    SC in same st, 3 SC, ch1 and join to St opposite 4 st away from where you started with a SC, 3 SC then SC in ch1 so from previous finger.   You should now have 9 SC and a ch1.
2 SC 4, SC in charge 1 sp, SC 5
3-8 SC in each st
8 SC Dec x 5
Cut yarn and thread through the loops pulling tight to close finger. Sew in ends

Third finger

Row Instruction Stitches
1 Attach yarn to left of ch1 from previous finger. SC in same st, 2 SC, ch1 and join to St opposite 3 st away from where you started with a SC, 2 SC then SC in ch1 so from previous finger. You should now have 7 SC and a ch1.
2 SC 3, SC in ch1 sp, SC 4
3-7 SC in each st
8 SC Dec x 4
Cut yarn and thread through the loops pulling tight to close finger. Sew in ends

 Fourth finger

Row Instruction Stitches
1 Attach yarn to left of ch1 from previous finger. SC in same st, 5 SC then 1 SC in ch1 sp of previous finger.  You should now have 7 SC
2-7 SC in each st
8 SC Dec x 2, SC, SC Dec
Cut yarn and thread through the loops pulling tight to close finger. Sew in ends

Thumb

Row Instruction Stitches
1 attach yarn in St to right of ch 4 sp from thumb hole round in main glove.   SC in same st, 4 SC 5 SC in ch4 gap.
2-7 SC in each st around
8 SC Dec x 5
Cut yarn and thread through the loops pulling tight to close finger.   Sew in ends

 

Cord

  1.  Once you have made 2 and sewn in all end attach yarn to middle of one glove with sl then ch 110.
  2.  Attach last ch to other glove in same spot then SC in each ch back to the first glove and finish with sl in original glove.

Cast off and sew in ends.
