  1. Materials and Resources

Below is a list of everything you will need to make this hat

  • Paintbox Simply Aran – 100g balls in any colours you choose – I used the following colours;
    • Buttercup Yellow (222)
    • Champagne White (202)
    • Small amount of black for mouth
  • 2 x 10mm safety eyes
  • stuffing
  • 4mm hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker

Below is a list of all the stitches (and their abbreviations) featured in this series of patterns.  All terms used are American.

  • Sc – single crochet
  • Ch – chain
  • Sc inc – sc increase
  • Sc dec – sc decrease (invisible kind)
  • b/l – back loops
  • f/l – front loops
  • m/c – magic circle
  • sl st – slip stitch

  • Gauge – no specific gauge required but you need to work as tightly as possible to avoid stuffing showing through.

Add eyes between rows 26 & 27, 3 stitches apart

Stuff banana

Sl st, cast off and sew shut

Banana Skin – in Yellow

Row Instruction Stitches
1 Starting in the f/l of round18, make 6 sc, ch 1 turn 6
2-12 Sc across, ch1 turn 6
13 (sc dec) x 3, ch 1 turn 3
14 Sc dec across 3 remaining stitches 1
Cast off a and sew in ends
Repeat rows 1-4, 3 more times to get 4 peeling skin pieces
  • Sew a mouth centrally under the eyes in black.
